Battling the injury bug

Of late my San Antonio Spurs have been battling the injury bug. Both Manu Ginobili and Tim Duncan are down with ankle sprains. This has proven to be a rather good stretch run. There is something to be said for veteran leadership. That even without our two best players we are still in first place in the South West Division. Eventually we will get Manu and Tim back and the league better look out.

Putting it all together

Early next week I will finish the writing of my second short fiction collection. It is called "The Insurrectionists" and other stories. Writing these stories has been a lot of fun however all good things must come to an end. I know that much was also the case as well.

Gordon Brown is the Jimmy Carter of Great Britain

We all know that Jimmy Carter was the dumbest president of all time. However Great Britain's Prime Minister Gordon Brown is officially the Jimmy Carter of Great Britain. One BBC Reporter dubbed him the quote "Scottish Idiot". It is safe to say that Brown is an idiot on par with Jimmy Carter. He is the Jimmy Carter of Great Britain

A Pleasant Surprise

The San Antonio Spurs must be pleased with the game play of Roger Mason Junior. Our back up shooting guard has really stepped up big in the absence of Manu Ginobili. Duncan is down however Mason's gameplay has to be a pleasant suprise for all Spurs fans out there. During the final stretch of the season reserve and bench play is huge.

The Road less traveled by

To quote Robert Frost "You have to travel the road less traveled by". Getting around this fact can be a little difficult at times. However it bears reminding that it needs to be done. I knew that much was also the case as well.

detrimental policies

The economic policies of Barack Obama are much closer to pure Hoover nomics than anything advocated for by George W. Bush. It is true that Bush gave us the Iraq war. However what the media is not inclined to say is that the Democrats are anti-capitalist and anti-business in the extreme sense of that term.

Philip K Dick is a visionary

American Science Fiction Author Philip K Dick is a hard nosed visionary. His legacy of creating Blade Runner and A Scanner Darkly sets him apart as the unique apostle of the future. Dick was a difficult person and sometimes an eracible one. None the less he was prolific and produced over fifty novels and a hundred stories many of which have been turned into motion pictures. They include Minority Report, Paycheck, and the Second Variety.
His legacy as the greatest American Science Fiction author is sealed.

surviving the run

The name of the game in this post modern age is survival. Thriving and surviving remain to entirely different things. This has proven to be an unusual story for me personally. However I know that I will eventually get through it.

Nate Robinson is officially kryptonite

You will never win an NBA championship in our lifetime New York, however your back up point guard Nate Robinson is officially kryptonite. He is the second smallest man ever to win an NBA slam dunk competition defeating the reigning champion one Dwight Howard of the Orlando Magic. Robinson is officially kryptonite to Howard's superman. Have fun with that one Dwight.

Angry teenagers suck

Most college students are that angry teenagers, they have as much equivalent mental development as thirteen year old children. This is true of most of the juveniles. It is sad to say this that not many of them will elevate themselves out of this phase of their lives. I have no great faith about that.

Slumdog Millionare is a Fairy Tale

The new movie by producer Danny Boyle "Slum Dog Millionare" based on the novel Q & A by Vikas Swarup is a fairy tale. It is a well done fairy tale but it is a complete fairy tale none the less. The story remains pure hollywood spectacle. It is also more than a little stereotypical. The movie is not that philosophically deep

A Matter of Opinion

We live in difficult times to say the least. However there are lessons we can draw from history about previous eras. The 1930's is just such an epoch that we can learn from. It has many useful lessons about the nature of government and how it should work.

the rest of the teenagers

I cannot believe that some people at age 19 or 20 still act as if they are thirteen years old. It is sad to say this but some people never want to grow up. Really do you want to be pathetic and stupid the rest of your entire existence on earth. No one has ever taught you the meaning of the following words both sense and responsibility. You are tactless and stupid and should be remembered as such.

Stupidity Sucks

Most people but not all people are hard wired stupid. It is unfortunate for them but there you have it. Most of my fellow university students are grade A morons. Someone else's deficiencies in life are not an excuse to act like a moron. I hate to be the one to break it to you. If you asked most college students to live up to the following ideals of "Class" "Emotional Maturity" and "Compassion" three quarters of them would have an existential crisis. Having to be a real adult is brutal. Most of them would like to remain thirteen years old forever. However such a notion is neither tolerated nor accepted.

On the Road in Delhi

In early 2009 it finds me on the road in Delhi. I have been to an NGO and I will see my family tomorrow. This is proving to be most fruitful to say the least. I think good things will emerge from this road trip. I will see you later.

Me and the Children

Most university students have the equivalent mental development of thirteen year olds. Basically they are still teenage children even at this late date. Such a state of existence is uncommendable. Is it so hard to ask you to show some emotional maturity? Why do they have to be so pointless and stupid I don't really get it. For now its me and the rest of the children.

Sensoring is Stupid

True democracies view a difference of opinion is good and necessary. Only dictatorships sensor their own people. Sensoring is stupid and negative and it ultimately accomplishes nothing. That is why I oppose the so called "Fairness" doctrine. It is nothing more than an attempt by liberals to muzzle conservatives. The second we engage in such activities we loose our demcracy.

Language Lessons

Most great authors are naturally astute users of language. Mark Twain was a master at manipulating words. His cadences when spoken were simply marvelous. There are other word wizards as well. Science Fiction author Alfred Bester was said to be a master at manipulating verbage. Although I never really liked his science fiction stories. Language is the tool authors use to project stores. I know that much was also quite true as well.

John Steinbeck and Everybody Else

John Steinbeck was a truly great American novelist. He was easily on par with Earnest Hemingway and William Faulkner. To think otherwise is to be intellectually chauvinistic in the extreme. After all Steinbeck gave us some redoubtable classics like East of Eden, Of Mice and Men, the Grapes of Wrath and Travels with Charlie. As far as I am concerned it is John Steinbeck and everbody else.

Manu Ginobili is Spur's X factor

Manu Ginobili is a phenomenal player. He is arguably the most talented foreign player playing the game. Also Ginobili is a game changer. He brings such wonderful skills coming off of the San Antonio Spur's bench. Ginobili has a great future ahead of him in the NBA.

The life, literature and legacy of Philip K Dick

Philip k Dick American Science Fiction Author was a prescient genuis. It is often said that genuises come ahead of their times. That was definitely the case with Dick. He is best known as the author of fifty novels and more than a hundred short stories. He authored the works Blade Runner, A Scanner Darkly, Minority Report and the Second Variety Among others. It is sad to say this that most creative people never see the effects of their own work in their own lifetimes. Genuis it seems is only granted in posterity.

Re-Evaluating Hemingway

Right now I am reading Earnest M. Hemingway's novel For Whom the Bell Tolls. Previously I didn't like Hemingway. In High School I had to read "The Sun Also Rises". Needless to say I did not much enjoy the book at the time. However with more time and an enhanced appreciation I have picked up both For Whom the Bell Tolls, ostensibly the story of Robert Jordan and the Short Stories of Earnest Hemingway. Both of which I am thoroughly enjoying. So read on and be impressed.

AtmosFear

The idea of Global Warming is easily one of the biggest ideas in our era. So why are most fiction writers not writing about Global Warming? Nominally we do have State of Fear by Michael Crichton and Forty Signs of Rain by Kim Stanley Robinson. The latter hower remains to be the exception rather than the rule. My novel "Mists of Eden" is an effort to remedy this situation. It is also a point at which I would like to start a debate on the subject. So enjoy.
