This blogger wishes that everyone should have a safe and happy new year all around. 2009 was the worst of the decade from hell. However I am hoping that 2010 is better than 2009. So far everything is going decently well. Have fun and stay safe

Napeolatano should get the axe
Homeland Security Chief Janet Napeolatano should get the ax over the failed Christmas day terror attack in Detroit. On this occasion we dodged a bullet due to the would be bombers lack of explosives training. The father of the Yemeni national who attempted to blow up the airliner warned the CIA seven months ago about the fact that his son was a terrorist. Apparently the information was never shared with the appropriate individuals. This represents a top down failure of the Obama administration to handle known threats. The Yemeni National was able to board the Airliner in spite of being on a terror watch list. This is a colossal blunder and the homeland security chief should go. I was aware of that as well.

Avatar reviels director's environmentalist Core
Avatar the new movie directed and written by James Cameron of Terminator and Titanic fame has rolled out with a science fiction extravaganza that reveals at the core that he is an environmentalist. In fact Cameron in film's past such as the first two terminator movies focused on the dark side of modern society such as too much technology. None the less Avatar ranks pretty good for both plot and special effects that none the less give you a compelling feel of alien life from both the point of view of an alien and a human. It is also a particularly aciduous commentary on the current state of world affairs

Merry Christmas to all
Being that it is Christmas tomorrow it looks like good times. I hope everyone is having a safe and enjoyable Christmas season. I know that I am currently doing so. Everything is going on well here and I look forward to seeing you all soon. So keep well.
modern Sci Fi movies basically suck
Endemic non-originality is the order of the day when it comes to modern science fiction movies. Gone are the days of Blade Runner, Close Encounters of the Third Kind and E.T. All of which were formidable and intelligent films that showed us a world that could be. Today's science fiction films a la Star Trek the Future Begins, District 9, and Transformers all seem to lack that credibility that the eighties era science fiction flicks seemed to possess innately. Although they are definitely eye candy they do not come with the sense of awe and wonder attached. I was aware of that as well.

Growing Pains in the Alamo City
Right now the Alamo City is experiencing growing pains. This is to be expected as ten of our fifteen players are bran new to the system. The old teams of 03 and 05 had years of playing experience together. Our biggest problem by far is our lack of consistent offense. Namely the ability to score when it matters most. This year is sort of a wash but I am still sticking with my team. I was aware of that as well.

the day after Vegas
After my whirlwind tour to Paradise Nevada and Clark County in General I returned back home. Yesterday seemed to go by in a flash. It felt as if I just got up and already it was time to leave. Nothing worked right in terms of transportation but I still had a good time none the less. I was aware of that as well.

my picks for the 2010 NBA all star team
For the western conference all stars it would be Tim Duncan at power forward. Dirk Nowitzki at Center and Carmelo Anthony at Small Forward. In the back court it would be Steve Nash and Kobe Bryant. For the eastern conference all stars it would be Dwight Howard at Center, Kevin Garnett Power forward and Lebron James at Small forward. In the back court it would be Dwayne Wade at point guard and Joe Johnson at Shooting Guard. These would be this years all star team members if I chose them

The US Government is Inept
The US Government is inept. We have to face the given facts that the democrats can't seem to create working health care legislation to save their lives. It is time that they should have to face the music that they have in fact failed. Obama has failed and congress has failed. Combine this with foreign policy failures such as Afghanistan and it is particularly painful with the prodigious lack of skill our government seems to exude on a near constant basis. When will the electorate wake up and put a stop to this nonsense?

Its a sad sad world
Its a sad sad world out there consider this, India is recruiting its smart people back and they are definitely making India a better place to be and live. The Philippines my mother's country is not doing the same thing. My mother and her family friend ME are in constant exile from their home country simply because they are college educated. Anyone who has knowledge and skills leaves at the first opportunity. When will this be seen as a loss?

the Spurs need to come together now
My San Antonio Spurs need to nut up and band together. We have a schedule that favors us however against the leagues better teams we are still anemic. I know that most of you are new. The old teams had years of playing experience and they knew how to function as a unit. You to will have to learn how to do that as well.

just why Star Trek is my favorite show
The tv show Star Trek originally created by Gene Roddenberry is easily the most visionary series that TV has produced in the past thirty five years. Starting with the original and all the way to the present. Star Trek has created visionary firsts for TV and movie viewing. As well as being pioneers in the areas of visual effects. I was aware of that as well.

being sick is no fun
I think I may have to go to the doctor tomorrow as I am sick. I thought it was a stomach problem however it might be something else entirely. There is a lot of really nasty bacteria particles going around these days. Any one of which could be a disease causing agent. I was aware of that as well

The book sale at the Ashish bookstall here in Mumbai is thoroughly mediocer to say the least. I only bought two books from them and those were at the last minute. Needless to say it is nothing to write home about. I was aware of that as well.

A Sense of Integrity
The idea of integrity is important for all of us. Namely that we should do the right thing not because we are told that it is good but that we feel that it is good. The ability to distinguish the adroit course of action is such that these thoughts cannot be ignored. Integrity is a vital concept that is useful in a lot of areas. I was aware of that as well.

Growing Pains
Nine of the fifteen players on the San Antonio Spurs are new. Of the six that returned from last three are second year players. This means that this team has some growing pains in this early 2010 season. The biggest question mark by fire is the game play of Ian Mahinmi who has the starter job at power forward. He has to fill the shows left by Tim Duncan who is out with an ankle sprain. I still have the feeling that we will eventually right this ship. Althought it may be some time before we do so. I was aware of that as well.

the revitalized GOP
Due to its recent electoral wins in New Jersey and Virginia. My party the GOP is going to come back from the dead. It seems that Obama and the Democrats have taken for granted that the electorate will always vote their way. Times have changed and you have to work to earn the trust and respect of the public. True democracy thrives on the competition of ideas. I was aware of that as well.

Anarchy Rules in America
Right now the US Government seems ineffectual and nonexistent. It seems that ever since Obama took over there has been a rule of anarchy. This unpleasant state of affairs cannot last forever. We should demand better things of our government. We cannot allow anarchy to rule. I was aware of that as well.

The Real Legacy of Moa Tse-Dong
The Chinese still revere Moa Tse Dong as a great modern Chinese leader when in fact he was guilty of mass scale genocide. During the events of the Great Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution Moa's communists killed close to thirty five million Chinese. That was more than the Japanese murdered in the entire Rape of Nanking. Reality and perception can be at times to opposing and fundamentally diffirent entities. Moa should be seen as an evil killer on par with Adolf Hitler. That is Moa Tse Dong's real legacy.

poetic justice of sorts
Right now terrorists are attempting to bring down the government of Saudi Arabia. This is poetic justice considering it was Saudi money that helped build up Al Qeada and Other terror groups throughout much of the nineteen nineties. Personally I hope the Saudi government falls. It is evil and despotic. I was aware of that as well.

Bali the Play is kind of useless
The play that we saw last night at the National Center for the Performing arts Called Bali was kind of useless. It had sub-par acting, sub-par writing and sub-par directing. If I were a critic I would give it half a star. I urge you all not to see this play. I was aware of that as well.

Impeach Lautenberg Now!
Junior Senator Frank Lautenberg of New Jersey should be impeached from the Senate on multiple counts of corruption. Not a single iota of negative attention has been focused on him to date. If he were a republican and had this happen to him he would be run out of office. They run republicans out of office they do not run democrats out of office even when they deserve it. I was aware of that as well.

stuck in transition
Due to yesterday's train accident it took us an additional hour to get back to Victoria Terminus station. The ride was slow and boring to say the least. This is the exact reason why they should not cut corners in infrastructure projects in India. I was aware of that as well.
more poetry as of yet to come
This has been a big year for me in verse. However it is about to get one step bigger right now. Currently I am working on two poetry volumes The Collected Early Poems Volume II and the poetry book called Song of Self and Other Poems. Both projects are thorougly rewarding in their own right. Poetry is a unique challenge that I enjoy immensely. I was aware of that as well.

If John Brown were alive today he would be a terrorist
Fanatical Abolitionist John Brown who lived in the years 1809-1859 was a nineteenth century American Terrorist. He and his private militia attacked slavers and fought to liberate slaves. In 1854-1856 He hacked four men to death with a sword in Kansas. If John Brown had done in todays world he would be considered a terrorist. I was aware of that as well.

The Cult of Obama
Let's face it Obama is a cult. The way people follow him without asking any critical questions is remarkable and more than a little bit freightening. Obama does not deserve Nobel Peace Prize
Barack Obama US President does not deserve to win the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009. This is an incredible bit of pandering by the Swedish Academy of Sciences by giving him the prize. What they are doing is snubbing Bush. Furthermore real Nobel Peace Prize winners include Nelson Mandela of South Africa and Doctor Martin Luther King Junior of the United States. Individuals like them worked to build a legacy of peace across their entire lifetime. I was aware of that as well.

the changing face of freedom
Freedom has a new face and that face is the nation of India. It will be many things to many people. It will be political liberty, the Chinese counter weight and it will be much more than that. India represents the future of the world and not he past. It is the changing face of freedom.

the freedom of speech
Liberals both in congress and without are waging a calculated war on the freedom of speech. They at the core hate the idea of liberty and they want it only for themselves. When we get rid of such cherished institutions we become one step closer to everything that we most despised. Namely that of dictatorship. The fairness doctrine is anything but fair. It is a naked attempt by the left to muzzle its critics. This cowardly assault on American Values cannot be let to move forward. I was aware of that as well.

In India Term Limits are a good thing
After American President Franklin D. Roosevelt died in office in 1945 America enacted term limits on the US Presidency. India should do the same thing with both the presidency and the prime minister's post. Knowing the Indian love of octogenerian politicians you run the risk of having one of them die while in office. Term limits would end this once and for it. Additionally it would help bring new blood to the for. I was aware of that as well.

the fate of free societies
terrorism is the bane that all free societies sooner or later will have to go through. India and others are ahead of this curb but eventually this problem will replicate itself in Los Angeles California, in Seoul South Korea and Hambourg Germany. Terrorists believe that all societies should be the model of the unsuccessful societies that spawned them. The idea of political liberty is alien to these people. We must make a united stand now.

To Kill a Mockingbird is overrated
Harper Lee's novel To Kill a Mockingbird is vastly overrated and not all that good a read. Philip K Dick put out better stuff than this on a continuous basis. Certain writer's I have never developed a taste for and she is one of them. I was aware of that as well.

the greatness of Philip K Dick
Over the span of the next five years more credit will go to the ligitimate genuis that was Philip K Dick. The man when he was alive was a genuine visionary. Philip K Dick had the unique gift to make the far out seem remarkably real. The ideas and thoughts he espoused in his fiction are still vital and potent today as when they were first written thirty five years ago. It is sad that we only accord genuius in retrospect. We rarely understand visionaries when they are around and it takes decades and in some cases centuries for us to understand what they were truly about.

the new face of freedom
India today is the new face of freedom. It is the world's largest democracy. Also it is a rising power. India should model itself after the brare rabbit. The small creature in former slave stories that defeated foxes, wolves and bears through superior intelligence and skill. This should be India's idea as it moves forward. India is freedom for the world.

the fate of free societies
Terrorism and how to deal with it is the scourge of modern mankind. Every free society will have to deal with this menace sooner or later. Here in India we have witnessed it first hand. Terrorists loath the idea of political liberty and they believe that all societies on Earth should be the models of the unsuccessful societies that spawned them. Dealing with the terrorist threat is our task now. I was aware of that as well.

the second Iran revolution
What the country of Iran really needs right now is a second and secular revolution. Right now paranioa and despotism prevail in Iran and it is to the deficiency of its people. Ayotallah Khameini and Mahmoud Amendinejad are the emobiment of evil. The Iranian people should rise up on mass and chuck those nutcases out. They would be really served well in doing so. I was aware of that as well.

Al Franken is useless as US Senator
The junior Senator from Minnesota one Al Franken is largely useless. He quizzed judicial nominee Appeals Judge Sonia Sotomayor about Perry Mason. Really you nothing genuinely constructive to add to teh given debate. if this is the average level of contributions you give to the US Senate on a regular basis you should retire Mr. Franken. I was aware of that as well.

Right now I am working hard and earning my paycheck. It looks like good times so far. Things could be better. But they could also be distinctly worse. Such is th nature of the working life. I was aware of that as well.

Bollywood is largely useless
Indian cinema principally known as Bollywood is largely useless. They make fake, cheesey films that are largely kitsch. Bollywood is still vastly inferior to Hollwood in most respects of the term. I was aware of that as well.

the work as of yet to be done
Today marks a turning point to say the least. Where I will go from here will determine the course of my future. Things have gone decently well so far. However nothing is as simple as it would seem. I was aware of that as well.

The Problems with Pakistan
Our neighboring country Pakistan is dissoving into chaos right now. Its chronic instability is a problem for India and the entire region as a whole. Pakistan's problems are problems that are of great concern to all of us. I was aware of that as well.

The way we are now
Where things are going is difficult to predict. The convoluted nature of the current situation makes things difficult to predict. Personally I had been hoping to get more done by now. However I have to settle with what I can get. Be safe and clean.

promoting a culture of innovation
As a whole Indians are not very innovative technology wise. Although that is changing. Recently one of the inventors of TCPIP the internet technology was an Indian trained engineer. For all its culture of learneing it needs to innovate if India wants to move forward. China and America have long histories as innovators in technology. India can learn from their examples.

Reading Philip K Dick
Philip K Dick was a low rent visionary. His ideas seem as hauntingly real today as they did twenty years ago when he last lived. Philip K Dick gave us Blade-Runner, Paycheck, Minority Report and A Scanner Darkly. His far out worlds seemed to be both prescient and remarkably real.

Google is guilty of theft
Google's book search function is guilty of massive copyright infringments. I wonder what was running through the minds of Larry Page and Sergey Brin when they approved of this project. Did you know that those authors worked hard to create those books. It is not your content and do not presume it is yours. Personally I hope the the author's guild take google to the wood shed over this.

New Poetry
Right now I am working on a new book of poetry. This is rather good to say the least. The situation has proven to be rather useful to say the least. Poetry is a lot like therapy for my soul. The current book is called Arson and Other Poems. I was aware of that as well.

The Nature of Lying
If we think that the discredited weapons of mass destruction was a snow job which it was then we have to think of the Gulf of Tonking Resolution as a similiar snow job. President Lyndon B. Johnson lied to get us into Vietnam faking the attack on a US Navy Destroyer the USS Maddox in the Gulf of Tonking. If we decree men like Bush, Rumsfeld, Cheney, Wolfowitz and Douglas Fife as evil. Why do we not hold to accound Johnson? The answer is because he is a democrat. Johnson and McNamara, namely Robert McNamara the former defense secretary were architects of the failed Vietnam policy. It represented a huge dereliction of duty from the President on down. The Vietnam conflict only escalated after President John Kennedey's electoral victory in 1960. The previous President Dwight D. Einsenhower resisted putting combat troops in Vietnam. Vietnam was an eight year long war that lasted from 1964-1972. It killed more than three hundred thousand Vietnamese and Fifty Thousand Americans. The conflict turned millions more into refugees. If we applied Congressman Denis Cousinitch's weak calculus of lying as jailable offense then would have had to arrest Kennedey, Johnson and McNamara. Richard Nixon only inhereted Vietnam and its problems from his predecessor. I was aware of that as well.

Obama is basically Bush
Now President Barack Obama said that he was about change. What change were you about Mr. President. That the US Government is more ineffectual under you when we were under your predecessor? Barack Obama is basically sixty five percent Bush. This is in terms of his Afghanistan Plan and his fiscal policy. The Toxic Asset buy back plan and the bank bailout is still government of for and by Wall Street. This hasn't changed in spite of the fact that we now have a democrat in the oval office. I was aware of that as well.

The future in Flux
Where is this all headed one might ask? We have to think of ourselves as fortunate in the long run. Things are bad now but they could be a lot worse. The situation was still changing and evolving to say the least. It will improve eventually. I was aware of that as well.

The Legwork
Right now I am commencing with the necessary legwork. This has proven to be rather useful to say the least. My recent spate of difficulties has proven to be rather difficult to say the least. The overall course of events is improving gradually. In the end I have to complete the task. I was aware of that as well.

Facing the Future
Although it definately has problems India is vastly superior to China in most regards. Indians are better educated, savier with technology and are the world's largest democracy. All things that bode well for India. China by the same token is a government that only seems to want to oppress and sensor its people. It restricts where they can go and what they can do. The Chinese Government is the embodiment of evil. India does not have these said problems and will do much better in the long run. Right now we are facing the future. I was aware of that as well.

Will the last real adult please stand up
Most people in my age group are glorified teenage children. They think with the thought process and prejudice of someone who is twelve years old. None of them is a real adult. A real adult believes in class, compassion and emotional maturity. None of which they have. So can the last real adult please stand up. I was aware of that as well.

One year later
Right now as I am about to head off for work I have to pause and think. Education is important but it should not come at the cost of one's sanity. That was the sage advice of one of my friends. The current state of affairs is as such that these things cannot be ignored. Still I am looking forward to the process none the less. I was aware of that as well.

the creative process
The creative process is an interesting one to say the least. Creating something new is a challenge to say the least. It a challenge that I think I am up to. The work that I have been doing of late is critical. I was aware of that as well.
the great Indian Future yet ahead
Provided that it can address some of its more glaring problems. India has a bright future that China does not. China has society dynamics that lead to instability, repression and inevitable conflict. India does not have those same dynamics. Once more it is a democracy and that is almost always a good thing. Furthermore India will move forward where China will move backwards. the Chinese state in comparion to its Indian counterpart is only interestede in sensoring and oppressing its people. One of the few good things that the British did when they were in power in india was create institutions that lasted. That is a very good thing to say the least. India is the future and not China. I was aware of that as well.

the journey yet ahead
My life's journey has been somewhat unpredictable to say the least. Things that once seemed clear to me are now foggy. However I have to make the most of the given situation. I was aware of that as well.

moving forward slowly but surely
Slowly but surely a sense of normalcy is returning. However what I have gained is not as cogent as I would like it to be. This situation is changing to say the least. Presently I will have to make the most of it. I was aware of that as well.

Cleaning up India's politics
The Indian government should put people who give bribes in jail. If they did this it would go a long way to curbing the rampant petty corruption. It is sad to say that the Indians have the perception that corruption is both acceptable and natural. If you contrast that with say the United States although corruption does happen there to it is not as rampant and pervasive as India. Also most Americans will go their entire lives without paying a bribe. India can learn from this example. I was aware of that as well.

Underrated Authors
This blog is focusing on underrated authors. The first in this category is Philip K Dick. Dick was a genuine visionary who didn't get enough credit and attention in his own lifetime. It is nearly thirty years after Dick's death and only now is he beginning to get the attention that his mind so richly deserves. Secondly Edgar Allan Poe is also an underrated author. His dark and fantastic vision is as hauntingly real today as it was a hundred and fifty years ago when it was first published. The last in Chinua Achebe. He is a great storyteller of the first order who I think should have won the Man booker Prize outright. His stories also weave complex political and moral messages into the fabric of his fiction. All three of these authors are truly great and deserve attention. I was aware of that as well.

Paying attention to craft
In the next four months I will be paying more attention to the craft and art of writing. My focus will be three of my creative projects. First will be the Finish Line and Other Poems, The second will be Shadowstreet and other poems. The third will be my 2006 novel Radigan's Run. These projects will be the sole focus of my writing activities. Completing the work on them will be crucial. I was aware of that as well.

developing an intelligent product
Right now I am beginning work on my third volume of poetry. Things look to be good so far as I commence work on Arson and Other Poems. Recently I have finished the poetry volume called Shadow-Street and other poems. This has been somewhat of a unique challenge to say the least. Poetry for me remains a new medium. At the current time I am working to develop an intelligent product. I was aware of that as well.

Feeling the pain
Sometimes your life can be a little more insane than you would like it to be. Everything that seemed clear now becomes foggy. Goals that you once held dear are now all but unattainable and now you are otherwise stuck dealing with the consequences of the fallout. This is the situation I find myself in today. I was aware of that as well.

Insulting Injuries the health care debate
The house and Senate are currently debating health care reform. All of these discussions are irrevelent unless the AMA (American Medical Association)'s monopoly and the insurance business are subjected to the same kinds of anti-trust measures that the rest of the economy are subjected too. Reformin these two given areas remain the lynchpins of any kind of reform. I was aware of that as well.

The Legacy of Lord North
At the time of the American Revolution Lord North was the worst Prime Minister in British History. Consider how he lost the American Revolution. The British who had a significant manpower, supply and weapons advantage subsequently forfeited all of their gains and lost horribly ending in 1781 in the Battle of Yorktown which really was the nail in the coffin of the North led government. His stubborn refusal to acknowledge his own mistakes led to his dissmissal as prime minister in 1782 a year after Yorktown. He was the John Defenbacher of Great Britain. I was aware of that as well.

reassessing Steinbeck's legacy outside of the nineteen thirties
In 1952 John Steinbeck wrote the great novel East of Eden, eight years later he wrote The Winter of Our Disconent in 1960. John Steinbeck stands as one of the greatest novelists that America has ever produced. He was a writer on par with Hemingway and Faulkner. I was aware of that as well.

Britain is Finished
In terms of both its population and is stagnant economy the nation of Great Britain is in the proverbial doghouse. The British have been declining for the past two and half decades but it is relatively recently that they have as a society hit rock bottom. An entire generation of Britains have been grown up with no culture, no future and no values. This is an intense problem for a society in sad decline

Hubris just plain sucks
Parents are especially guilty of hubris on many occassions. Hubris is excessive pride or arrogance. It basically leads to bad decisions and misjudgments. Please people leave your hubris at the door. Do not act as though you are naturally superior to everyone else even when you are not. I was aware of that as well.

No wonder a name change
In 1914 the University of New Jersey formally changed its name to Princeton. Some time later the State University of New Jersey also changed its name to Rutgers. Both higher ed bodies formally dissassociated themselves with the corrupt meyer that is New Jersey politics. Little has changed to this day as a matter of fact. 3 mayors, two assemblymen and five rabbis are implicated directly in a bribery and money laudering scandal. The office of Jeff Corzine the governor of the state has also been implicated in the probe. Personally I hope that the justice department nails these people to a wall. It would serve them right

historical misnomers
Both Moa Tse Dong and Joseph Stalin are mass murderers yet they are revired as great leaders even to this day by both the Chinese and Russians respectively. Why do some mass murderers get reviled and others get revered I really do not understand it.

where it all breaks down
mental problems are surprisingly common amongst both Americans and people in general. It is estimated that some thirty five million Americans most of them under the age of thirty possess some kind of a mental disorder. However mental disorders still to this day remain very poorly understood both by physicians and families. They can often lead to tragedies if they go untreated. This issue touches my life personally as I have a mental disorder. I hope one day progress can be made both scientific and social that can help to alieviate some of the problems suffered by me and my fellows. I was aware of that as well.

after the wedding
Well my elder sister and her new husband are enjoying themselves thoroughly in Buenos Aires Argentina. All in all it was a good if slightly insane time for my family as a whole. The past weekend I visited four American states and traversed two thirds of the country in the process. It was great fun all around. I will catch you all again soon.

the future of farms
It is sad to say that small farming towns like Coleridge Nebraska are disappearing as population centers. These communities should really look at the idea a visa exchange program with India and China. They really need young people bad. The family of my in laws are third generation farmers and you can literally feel the desolation. It is a population that is steep decline. Something radical has to be done to ressurect these communities. I was aware of that as well.

Later this morning we are off to Nebraska. It is first to Omaha and then on to Coleridge. It look likes good times with my brother in law and his family. Still the flight there will be kind of brutal to say the least. I was aware of that as well.

decline of a thinking culture
It is sad to say that the world's intellectual culture is in decline. Recently it has been replaced with petty patriotism. This is a rather sad development in many respects of the term. The death of intellectualism does spell doom for the society at large. Intellectuals remain the greatest predictors of change and ways of thought. I was aware of that as well

after the wedding
After my elder sister's wedding I feel appropriately devastated energy wise. No doubt it was good fun for the most part. Peace deal in Kashmir
What the disputed region of Kashmir needs is a peace deal. The United Nations should create a joint special protectorate and have a multi national peace keeping force to protect the innocent civilians. More people are negatively effected by this conflict than are effected by the Arab Israeli Conflict. It should demand more of the worlds time and attention. The importance of South Asia as a region is growing. However at the current time this conflict remains unresolved. I was aware of that as well.

the second Iranian revolution
Right now I have three Iranian friends. The political situation in their home country is as such that they really need a second revolution. In 1979 the Shah was deposed. Now they need to do the same thing to Ayatollah Khameini the current head of government. The truth is that the ayotallahs and the Supreme Council For Islamic Revolution in Iran or SCIRI are running the country into the ground. Chuck those nutcases out. I was aware of that as well.

the problems posed by North Korea
It is safe to say that North Korea is an intransigent rogoue state. Right now it is accelerating its nuclear and ballistic missile capabilities with the specific purpose of hurting the United States and its allies in the East Asia region. Once more North Korea is also exporting dangerous material to other nations with hostile intentions such as Iran and Syria. This poses a rather unique challenge to the United States in the Pacfic Rim. I was aware of that as well.

Prisoner of State, remembering Tiannemen
Former Secretary General of the Communist Party Zhao Ziyang died in house arrest in 2005. He was one of the few high ranking communist party officials who wanted a peaceful resolution to the Tiannemen Square uprising in the early 1990's. Unfortunately for him Deng Xoaping the Leader of the Government sided with the hardliners against Ziyang and the moderates. We have to be thankful that we live in a democracy and not in an evil dictatorship such as China. Its government is entirely arbitrary. Think about what happens to officials when they fall out of favor.

The Knockout blow
The evil LA Lakers can land the knockout blow today on the Orlando Magic. If Kobe and company win he will have won a championship without Shaq. It took him six years to get it done. Remember this Laker fans, Kobe Bryant is not Michael Jordan. Most likely he will never be Michael Jordan. I was aware of that as well.

Racism is natural but it is still wrong
Racism or a preference for certain races of people but a disdain for others is natural. However it is also incorrect. Truly good and smart people find a way to overcome the racism that they innately have. We have to remember that societies that were consumed by racism were inevitably destroyed. That was particularly true of the Antibellum South in the United States and Nazi Germany. Both societies were consumed with petty hatred and they were both destroyed. I was aware of that as well.

Redoubler will be here soon
Over the course of the next month I will write the short story collection titled Redoubler and other stories. These are eight short realist crime stories. They are my original works. It is my hope that you should enjoy them. I was aware of that as well.

source of the story
My powerful imagination has always been the source of my stories. It is the crucible for which these elaborate tales were born. Still a lot remains undone at the present time. I was aware of that as well.
The story so far
My story so far has been a little more than discontiguous and I know it. None the less I left with the unfriendly task of making good out a bad situation. Personally I wish things weren't this way. But I cannot change the past. I was aware of that as well.

Star Trek is visionary
The Television show Star Trek and later the movies are the visionary work of Gene Roddenberry. The idea of the United Federation of Planets and starships are crucial in the way we perceive space and society. The series was inspired by Horatio Hornblower. I was aware of that as well.

We Boldly Went
Yesterday my dad and I watched Star Trek the Future Begins. Generally I thought rather well of the movie. First of all it was proper movie length at least two hours. From a cinematographic stand point it was pretty good and it did not feel as if it were a TV episode blown up to movie size. Basically this was an adaption of the original Star Trek. It is ostensibly the story of two people Captain James Kirk and Ambassador Spock. I was aware of that as well.

An Injustice State
The violent beatings of ten south asians in Melbourne Australia marks a state of injustice for all colored people. In Australia if you kill a person of color you only get two years in prison. This double standard of justice cannot be allowed to go unchecked. I was aware of that as well.

Alpha will be here soon
Right now I am about to commence work on my new science fiction themed novel Alpha. It is a combination of two stories principally Brave New World by Aldous Huxley and Slan by AE Van Voght. It is my wish that you will enjoy it. I was aware of that as well.

This week marks the end of one project and the beginning of another. It looks like good times so far. Things are changing rather rapidly at the current time. Still I am determined to see things through none the less. I was aware of that as well.

Later this week I will finish the writing of my historical novel Crossing the Hudson. It was fun working on this project to say the least. My next novel will be the science fiction story Alpha. I was aware of that as well.

Orlando in the finals
Yesterday the Orlando Magic for the first time since 1995 earned a trip to the NBA finals. It is a big surprise to the Cinderalla story of this years NBA playoffs. No one expected, except me of course that Orlando would get this far. I was aware of that as well.

The Sri Lankan Massacre
Late this past week over 20,000 civilians primarily Tamils were killed on mass by the Sri Lankan Army. This amounts to a good sized genocide. It is also the results of the end of the thirty six year long struggle with the LTTE also known as the Tamil Tigers. This sad state of events should have never happened. I was aware of that as well.

Standing Up
Lets face it the world is an insane place. we have to shake our heads just how things got to this state. It should not be this way but it is. This is the way things will have to be for a long time. I was aware of that as well.

A Place Called Home
Home can be two things. It can be a literal, physical place. However it can also be a spiritual place as well. Home is after all what we make of it. The place can be anywhere we are so long as we are whole. I was aware of that as well.

playing like the MVP
He might not be the NBA MVP but Dwight Howard is playing like the MVP. Originally he was my choice for the MVP award. The Award should be purely merit based. Howard happens to be an exceptional player and the league's future. I was aware of that as well.

India votes for stability
The poll results are in and the Congress Party headed up by Sonia Ghandi won the majority of seats in the Indian Lokh Sabha (People's assembly). The congress party won some 165 seats out of 250 available seats. They still need to forge an alliance with a smaller party in order to declare a decisive majority. Either way this is a major setback to LK Advani the senior leader of the BJP. Manmohan Singh the current Prime Minister is due to get a second term easily and now he has the political support he needs to see through necessary reforms.

the fate of free societies
A free society is the key to democracy. However in the age of terrorism keeping a society free is an ongoing struggle. The rule of law and the maintenence of order is also key to the survival of democracy. I was aware of that as well.

where do we go from here
My party the GOP needs to reinvent itself. We have to return to what made the GOP strong in the past. The idea of local control needs to be revisited. We cannot allow one party rule to continue forever. I was aware of that as well.
the end of Prabakaran
Late yesterday Tamil Tiger leader BS Prabakaran was shot dead in a gunfight with forces allied with the government of Sri Lanka. The long time terrorist leader and terror path breaker whose suicide bombings in the early nineteen seventies inspired the PLO, Hezbollah, Hamas and much later Al Queada was at long last killed. Prabakaran and his movement are dead and the world is much better for it.

Please Houston Take Down LA
this is my plea to the Houston Rockets to please beat the LA Lakers. Suddenly the LA Lakers have a fight on their hands instead of a route and slaughter. Now the Rockets can show what they are made of and playoff eliminate the evil Los Angeles Lakers. I was aware of that as well.

the rise of Lebron James
Lebron James has come a long way since he was the youngster who couldn't score on Bruce Bowen. Still I thought that the MVP award should have gone to Dwight Howard of the Orlando Magic. None the less this past season has seen a battle hardened maturation of a budding star athelete. Lebron James makes playoff basketball look easy. I was aware of that as well.

necessary risk
Kasab's lawyer is taking a necessary risk. His brave and gallant actions are helping to enhance both democracy and civil society. Without people like him such entities would not exist. Kasab might be an evil terrorist however even evil terrorists deserve a fair and honest trial. I was aware of that as well.

feeling the pain
It seems that this region of the world namely South Asia is in a lot of pain of late. Pakistan is in Civil War, Bangladesh is a mess and Nepal isn't much better off with their government on the brink of collapse. It seems that this region of the world has an unusually high amount of trouble spots to say the least.

The Pakistani Civil War
Right now my father's home country is in a state of civil war. There are basically two camps, the pro democracy camp and the military. The two are duking it out for control of the country with the ordinary citizens caught in the crossfire. The Pakistani government is all but impotent in the face of the rising levels of terrorism from Al Queada and the Taliban. If Pakistan destabilizes completely it will be India who will feel it. Remember Mumbai is closer to Karachi than it is to New Delhi. When Pakistan heads south it is we who feel the pain first.

The Kasab Trial is actually a good thing
Believe it or not the trial of terror suspect Mohammed Ajmal Amir is actually a triumph for the systems of democratic governance. If we are to believe that we respect the rule of law we have to give fairness were fairness is due. Think of it this way in other countries you can be tried without being able to face your accusers. In addition they can bring secret evidence and convict you even if the charges are erroneous. The Charges in Kasab's case are air tight however the system has to be upheld. It would be a huge image blow of Kasab were to be killed by a riotous mob instead of by hanging of in front of a firing squad. India would be viewed as a third world back water if that were to happen. Think of it this way, if the law does not stand up. We should demand nothing less

A Day At the Beach
This past weekend my family and I went to the Beach near Mumbai India. The place was a town called Murood. It is not far from Kashi a beach and Alibaug a small port city. Ballard was seventy eight when he died.

The Sri Lankan End Game
The Sri Lankan Government is poised to defeat the terrorist group known as the Tamil Tigers once and for all. The struggle should be over and the Sri Lankans should let in the UN High Commisioner for Refugees. There is still a humanitarian catatrastophy in the North West part of the country. Please do not let the tigers off the hook.

the idea of secularism
Secularism is the idea that church and state should be two seperate entities. It is a vital concept in the day and age of political religions. The situation in the world is made more difficult by the rise of mdern fundamentalism. It seems as if we are heading towards a clash of will to say the least.

India and the future of democracy
India has a bright future if can maintain its democracy. So far it has been given one gift given to it by the British. The British helped to build first rate institutions. Those institutions are vital in the maintennance of democracy. India has freedom and China does not. For that exact reason I think India will do well in time to come.
Into the Groove
With new creative projects on tap and more on the way. Things are looking up. Also I am beginning to like my new job albeit it is a little bit boring. All in all my life is slowly but surely starting to look up. I was aware of that as well.

The Playoffs have arrived
The NBA playoffs got off to a rocky start for my San Antonio Spurs. However we will right this ship in good time. Now we really miss the services of Mr. Manu Ginobilli. He was easily our most dynamic and entertaining player. However this does open opportunities for unlikely heroes to shine. Look for a big performance from our bench and our reserves.

the future of freedom
Liberty is the basis for all of modern society. Without it nothing can exist. People do everything possible to obtain freedom. It is a vital and necessary commodity in the world to which we live in.
Crossing the Hudson is coming
My new historical novel Crossing the Hudson will be here soon. It is the story of Josiah Tynes of Framingham Massachussetts. It is also the story of the American Revolution from the bottom up. This narrative will be unique in several regards. For one thing it views important events in history through the eyes of common people.

Third world politics is ridiculous
AN Indian politician was arrested because he landed a helicopter in the wrong place. I found such a thing to be thoroughly ridiculous. Country's should not engage in arbitrary arrest. It is like if my father were running for election in California and someone were to have him arrested for parking in the wrong parking lot. That of course would never happen in America. If India claims to be a civilized country it cannot allow arbitrary arrests

Kasab on trial
Later today terror suspect Ajmal Amir Kasab "The Butcher" is going on trial. The rule of law is really important for the functioning of democracy. An example of fairness historically was the acquittal of the British officers in the Boston Massacre of 1775. A similar precedent could be applied to the Kasab trial now. Fairness and legitimacy of the process must come before all things.

Mists of Eden is here

How would Outliers explain this?
In Malcolm Gladwell's new book Outliers he said that the Slave Narrative was debililating. That is not entirely true. How would he explain such people as Robert Mailer, Oprah Winfrey or George Washington Carver. All of whom are or were African American but all of them were phenomenally successful financially. Success is much more than merely happenstance.

seven hours in Singapore
Yesterday I spent some time in the fine city La. In lamens terms I spent time in Singapore a total of seven hours cooped up in Changi International Airport. Which I have to say after San Francisco is the best airport I have been to in terms of both design and functionality. If you compare it to the two British Airports Heathrow and Gatwick they are both pieces of crap by Comparison. I will be in Changi again in the Summer time when I return to San Francisco for my sister's wedding.

New Opportunities and Old Ends
This seems to be an era of new opportunities and old ends. Bridges have been burned and not by choice. Circumstance has forced me to alter serious longterm plans that I have previously expected to complete. A fine and abiding sense of irony cannot be escaped and I know it. Eventually I will have to find the new opportunity. Where there is risk there is reward and I know it.

Character Assassination Sucks
I must preface the following comment by saying that I love my family friend Yuri Kondo dearly. That being said she is a character assassin of the first order. I remember one dinner conversation I had with her in which she said that Former President Bush was in league with Bin Laden to overthrow the government of Iran. I thought that comment was both stupid and insane. Pointless Partisan ship is just that pointless. I do not character assasinate people I dislike politically. I despise them for political reasons. Take for example Senator John Kerry. I do not like how liberal John Kerry is but I do not go around stating that he is a drug addict or that he robbed a bank. Such a thing is monumentally unproductive in the extreme. Keep personal quibbles aside and despise people for political reasons and not personal ones. Stop being a character assassin I am begging you.

the essence of exile
Exile can mean essentially two things. It can mean literal exile as in my father's situation regarding his home country Pakistan. However it can also mean metaphorical exile as exile from happiness. That is also exile just as much as the latter is exile. Rather formally exile remains the state of modern political affairs in the twenty first century.

inescapable irony
Right now my life feels a shade more ironic than it should be. The latter is a feeling that I can't fully escape at the present time. None the less I have to turn something bad into something good. The latter is more diffuclt however it must be done.

Can Anyone Stop Tony Parker?
After the NBA all star break it seems that Tony Parker has been on a tare in terms of scoring. It seems that he has found a way to elevate his game to MVP level play. Greatness of back court play is especially crucial when the playoffs start. Can anyone stop Tony Parker?

the irony of it all
The situation that we find ourselves in is rather ironic. Things shouldn't be this way but they are and we have to deal with them. Getting around this last fact is rather tricky and I know it. In the end we have to finish what we have started.

the problems with Af-Pak
Right now the deteriorating situation in Pakistan is working to destabilize its neighbor Afhganistan politically. The problems of one influence the other. This is shaping American policy towards the region. Pakistan is sheltering and protecting the Taliban leadership particularly in Quetta. Dealing with one inevitably means dealing with the other.

Selling out democracy
So liberals you thought your man Barack Obama was the savior. As it turns out he is only a sellout. His fiscal and foreign policy objectives differ little from the administration that proceeded him. In fact he has stabbed in the back the very interests that helped put him in the White House. I hate to say I told you so but I told you so. Obama still remains to be essentially inept.

Putting up with teenagers
It seems that thirteen years old is the average college age in this country. Most college students are glorified teenagers. They think and act as teenagers do. This is really reprehensible to say the least. Emotional Maturity and college student don't belong in the same sentence

idiots on wheels
It is safe to say there are a lot of idiots on wheels out there. These people think only of where they are going and they don't much care of who else is using the road. The latter is completely reprehensible. I hate all idiot motorheads and their wheels. These people should have never been given a liscense in the first place. Driving a car is not vehicular manslaughter.

the playoff push begins tonight
Provided we should win our game against the LA Clippers tonight the San Antonio Spurs would clinch and advance to go to the NBA playoffs. Many other teams will not get to go there so it is a privilidge to represent. We will be the west's second seed behind the first place and thoroughly evil Los Angeles Lakers. Who I still do not pick to win the NBA Championship. Maybe my Spurs can do it and cause un upset. We shall see

moving past your pain
This is a blog post all about pain. It can be any kind of pain, personal, emotional, physical or pschycological. However what all pain has in common is the fact that it is rooted in the mind of the person. Pain is also biological. To end this seliliquay i have to enter the following thoughts. The situation has changed and not all for the better. However one day I to hope that I will move past my pain.

In the land of idiot children
Most college students are at the core idiot children. They only possess as much mental development as is present in the average thirteen year old child. Almost all of them at the core are essentially morons. They are not that smart intellectually. It is sad to say this but I do not have great faith that many of them will grow up into better people.
Tuesday, March 24, 2009
The Reverse is also true
Not all smart people are liberals. Also not all liberals are smart. I have met many people who are partisanly democrat but are dumb as rocks. However there are a lot of smart people who are also conservatives. Take for example science fiction author Orson Scott Card. He is an example of a smart and highly educated person who is not a political liberal. How would you define him. Neither side possesses a monopoly on intelligence or goodness

Improvements
Somehow miracle of miracles I managed to actually get some sleep last night. How I did it I don't exactly know. However it did feel good and I knew it. After all I had not had a complete night of sleep in over six days. So to get one was acutely good.

In on the Plot
The Modern Media is little more than a Democrat Party Proxy force. These people seem to have to different sets of standards. They have one tougher for republicans and a second one easier for Democrats. How else did people like Rod Blugoyevitch stay in office for so long. If Blugoyavetich had been a republican and a conservative instead of a liberal and a democrat he would have been run out of office in ten seconds if Rezko had happened to him. Similiarly they thought that John Edwards's affair was unfit to report. These people are little more than a democrat party proxy force. How else was someone as parenthically unskilled as Obama able to be elected president if the media was behind him 100 percent. It is clear to me that the media has a liberal minded political agenda. It is something that we will all pay the price for later.

The Return
In about thirty six hours I will be under home skies once more. This is after nearly a 110 days of being away. It will be good to be home once more as there are some loose ends that I have to wrap up. None the less it bares mentioning that I will only be home for about three weeks.

On the matter of Pakistan
It is safe to say that my father's country Pakistan is an insitutional failed state at this point in time. My father will never be able to visit his home country in his own lifetime. Effectively he is an exile. The only hope for Pakistan is to be reabsorbed into India. It is the only way forward for them.

Trade Lamar Odom
Hey Lakers your man Lamar Odom does not have it in him to win an NBA Championship. Take for example last year. Lamar was a huge piece of getting the Lakers to the NBA Finals. However once he got their he gassed and collapsed. In fact none of the Lakers had a particularly excellent series. Their collective deficiencies were shown in Prime Time. I still do not pick the Lakers to win the NBA Championship this year. You are better off dumping Odom

Pratibha Patil is effectively incompetent
The current Indian President is officially incompetent. It seems that she has a dangerous lack of knowledge and skills. I wonder what calculus Sonia Gandhi was running through her mind when she promoted Patil to the Presidency. Patil for all of her incompetence has a lot of authority within the Indian Government. She can fire the Prime Minister and Dissolve Parliament. Also she is the Commander and Chief of the Indian Armed Forces. The latter is a huge responsibility. How and why this person was promoted is still a mystery to me.

Avoiding England's Fate
Great Britain seems to be the model of a society in sharp decline. It has been going to the dogs for quite some time I.E. the past twenty five years. However it has now finally reached there. It seems to be the fate of former imperial powers that they end up in what is called the "Black hole of empire". America can learn and profit from Britain's misery. We should take steps to avoid having a similar fate.

Tim Duncan is Heating Up
Right now schedule Tim Duncan power forward for the San Antonio Spurs is playing truly inspired basketball. In fact the San Antonio Spurs are the only club in the western conference that has a better than five hundred record that is not the hated and evil LA Lakers. This is purely attributable to the fact that Tim Duncan is having yet another MVP type season this year. And when we get Manu Ginobilli back the league better look out.

Asking for a lawsuit

Duncan's Defense
Tim Duncan is a great player in many regards. However his defense and his mental toughness are without peer in the NBA. Duncan has been a member of the NBA's all first defensive team each of the past eight seasons. The only other players to have done that same feat are Bill Russell and Kareem Abdul Jabbar. Duncan's accomplishments will one day rank on par with theirs.

Where is the US Government?
Is it just me or has the United States government evaporated since Obama took over. What concrete steps has he taken to fix the ailing economy? It seems as if we have a do nothing President. The Democrats have to be held to account for the lack of adroit action from the top down.

Orson Scott Card is the best writer in Sci Fi
This is a shameless plug for my new favorite science fiction writer Orson Scott Card. The Ender series if phenomenal. Of late I have read Ender's Game, Ender's Shadow, Speaker for the dead, Shadow of the Hegemon, Shadow Puppets and of late I have picked up Xenocide and Children of the Mind. It looks to be good times and good reading with Orson Scott Card

not good government
Contrary to what they have claimed the Democratic Party has not returned good government back to Washington. In fact the current Obama Administration seems more ineffectual in office than did George W. Bush when he was in office. Obama is essentially inept. He is an unskilled democrat party stooge. The democrats are just as corrupt and inept as the Republicans who proceeded them.

Battling the injury bug
Of late my San Antonio Spurs have been battling the injury bug. Both Manu Ginobili and Tim Duncan are down with ankle sprains. This has proven to be a rather good stretch run. There is something to be said for veteran leadership. That even without our two best players we are still in first place in the South West Division. Eventually we will get Manu and Tim back and the league better look out.

Putting it all together
Early next week I will finish the writing of my second short fiction collection. It is called "The Insurrectionists" and other stories. Writing these stories has been a lot of fun however all good things must come to an end. I know that much was also the case as well.

Gordon Brown is the Jimmy Carter of Great Britain
We all know that Jimmy Carter was the dumbest president of all time. However Great Britain's Prime Minister Gordon Brown is officially the Jimmy Carter of Great Britain. One BBC Reporter dubbed him the quote "Scottish Idiot". It is safe to say that Brown is an idiot on par with Jimmy Carter. He is the Jimmy Carter of Great Britain

A Pleasant Surprise
The San Antonio Spurs must be pleased with the game play of Roger Mason Junior. Our back up shooting guard has really stepped up big in the absence of Manu Ginobili. Duncan is down however Mason's gameplay has to be a pleasant suprise for all Spurs fans out there. During the final stretch of the season reserve and bench play is huge.

The Road less traveled by
To quote Robert Frost "You have to travel the road less traveled by". Getting around this fact can be a little difficult at times. However it bears reminding that it needs to be done. I knew that much was also the case as well.

detrimental policies
The economic policies of Barack Obama are much closer to pure Hoover nomics than anything advocated for by George W. Bush. It is true that Bush gave us the Iraq war. However what the media is not inclined to say is that the Democrats are anti-capitalist and anti-business in the extreme sense of that term.

Philip K Dick is a visionary
American Science Fiction Author Philip K Dick is a hard nosed visionary. His legacy of creating Blade Runner and A Scanner Darkly sets him apart as the unique apostle of the future. Dick was a difficult person and sometimes an eracible one. None the less he was prolific and produced over fifty novels and a hundred stories many of which have been turned into motion pictures. They include Minority Report, Paycheck, and the Second Variety.
His legacy as the greatest American Science Fiction author is sealed.

surviving the run
The name of the game in this post modern age is survival. Thriving and surviving remain to entirely different things. This has proven to be an unusual story for me personally. However I know that I will eventually get through it.

Nate Robinson is officially kryptonite
You will never win an NBA championship in our lifetime New York, however your back up point guard Nate Robinson is officially kryptonite. He is the second smallest man ever to win an NBA slam dunk competition defeating the reigning champion one Dwight Howard of the Orlando Magic. Robinson is officially kryptonite to Howard's superman. Have fun with that one Dwight.

Angry teenagers suck
Most college students are that angry teenagers, they have as much equivalent mental development as thirteen year old children. This is true of most of the juveniles. It is sad to say this that not many of them will elevate themselves out of this phase of their lives. I have no great faith about that.

Slumdog Millionare is a Fairy Tale
The new movie by producer Danny Boyle "Slum Dog Millionare" based on the novel Q & A by Vikas Swarup is a fairy tale. It is a well done fairy tale but it is a complete fairy tale none the less. The story remains pure hollywood spectacle. It is also more than a little stereotypical. The movie is not that philosophically deep

A Matter of Opinion
We live in difficult times to say the least. However there are lessons we can draw from history about previous eras. The 1930's is just such an epoch that we can learn from. It has many useful lessons about the nature of government and how it should work.

the rest of the teenagers
I cannot believe that some people at age 19 or 20 still act as if they are thirteen years old. It is sad to say this but some people never want to grow up. Really do you want to be pathetic and stupid the rest of your entire existence on earth. No one has ever taught you the meaning of the following words both sense and responsibility. You are tactless and stupid and should be remembered as such.

Stupidity Sucks
Most people but not all people are hard wired stupid. It is unfortunate for them but there you have it. Most of my fellow university students are grade A morons. Someone else's deficiencies in life are not an excuse to act like a moron. I hate to be the one to break it to you. If you asked most college students to live up to the following ideals of "Class" "Emotional Maturity" and "Compassion" three quarters of them would have an existential crisis. Having to be a real adult is brutal. Most of them would like to remain thirteen years old forever. However such a notion is neither tolerated nor accepted.

On the Road in Delhi
In early 2009 it finds me on the road in Delhi. I have been to an NGO and I will see my family tomorrow. This is proving to be most fruitful to say the least. I think good things will emerge from this road trip. I will see you later.

Me and the Children
Most university students have the equivalent mental development of thirteen year olds. Basically they are still teenage children even at this late date. Such a state of existence is uncommendable. Is it so hard to ask you to show some emotional maturity? Why do they have to be so pointless and stupid I don't really get it. For now its me and the rest of the children.

Sensoring is Stupid
True democracies view a difference of opinion is good and necessary. Only dictatorships sensor their own people. Sensoring is stupid and negative and it ultimately accomplishes nothing. That is why I oppose the so called "Fairness" doctrine. It is nothing more than an attempt by liberals to muzzle conservatives. The second we engage in such activities we loose our demcracy.

Language Lessons
Most great authors are naturally astute users of language. Mark Twain was a master at manipulating words. His cadences when spoken were simply marvelous. There are other word wizards as well. Science Fiction author Alfred Bester was said to be a master at manipulating verbage. Although I never really liked his science fiction stories. Language is the tool authors use to project stores. I know that much was also quite true as well.

John Steinbeck and Everybody Else
John Steinbeck was a truly great American novelist. He was easily on par with Earnest Hemingway and William Faulkner. To think otherwise is to be intellectually chauvinistic in the extreme. After all Steinbeck gave us some redoubtable classics like East of Eden, Of Mice and Men, the Grapes of Wrath and Travels with Charlie. As far as I am concerned it is John Steinbeck and everbody else.

Manu Ginobili is Spur's X factor
Manu Ginobili is a phenomenal player. He is arguably the most talented foreign player playing the game. Also Ginobili is a game changer. He brings such wonderful skills coming off of the San Antonio Spur's bench. Ginobili has a great future ahead of him in the NBA.

The life, literature and legacy of Philip K Dick
Philip k Dick American Science Fiction Author was a prescient genuis. It is often said that genuises come ahead of their times. That was definitely the case with Dick. He is best known as the author of fifty novels and more than a hundred short stories. He authored the works Blade Runner, A Scanner Darkly, Minority Report and the Second Variety Among others. It is sad to say this that most creative people never see the effects of their own work in their own lifetimes. Genuis it seems is only granted in posterity.

Re-Evaluating Hemingway
Right now I am reading Earnest M. Hemingway's novel For Whom the Bell Tolls. Previously I didn't like Hemingway. In High School I had to read "The Sun Also Rises". Needless to say I did not much enjoy the book at the time. However with more time and an enhanced appreciation I have picked up both For Whom the Bell Tolls, ostensibly the story of Robert Jordan and the Short Stories of Earnest Hemingway. Both of which I am thoroughly enjoying. So read on and be impressed.

AtmosFear
The idea of Global Warming is easily one of the biggest ideas in our era. So why are most fiction writers not writing about Global Warming? Nominally we do have State of Fear by Michael Crichton and Forty Signs of Rain by Kim Stanley Robinson. The latter hower remains to be the exception rather than the rule. My novel "Mists of Eden" is an effort to remedy this situation. It is also a point at which I would like to start a debate on the subject. So enjoy.

the oncoming moment of destiny
We have to think that we create destiny. Truly few people are cut out for destinies from the get go. Most of us create our destinies the hard way. Such is the way of things at this time in human history. I know this much is also quite true as well.

Spurs Spank the Suns
Late on Thursday night 29th of January San Antonio beat Phoenix 114-104. the effort came mainly from our bench with huge games from both Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili. Tim Duncan quietly racked up 20 points and fifteen boards as San Antonio Spanked Phoenix. It looks to be good times in the Alamo City

Democracy Wins in South Asia
In the past year and half democracy has one big in the Indian Subcontinent. All of the countries in it have adopted democratic governments. Sri Lanka defeated the Tamil Tigers, Sheikh Hasina's Awami League Party wins the Bengali elections. Nepal adopts democratic rule and Pakistan has a new Civilian Government. It seems as if democracy has won big in south asia of late.

The Role of Institutions
Institutions are key to keeping democracies alive. When they do not work or do not function normally the system inevitably breaks down. Institutions include the legislatures, courts, police and schools. They serve as the very back bone of the democracy. Keeping them vital and alive is important.

Giving a Bribe should be made illegal
In India as is common with many developing nations, corruption is rampant. If the Indian Government wanted to do something meaningful about it they should make giving a bribe a felony offense. It would not eliminate the problem, as politics is an inherintly dirty business. However it would discourage a lot of people from participating in the effort.

The Problems We Now Face
Terrorism is a growing scourge that all free nations will have to face. It should be met with ferocity unchecked. Such a thing cannot be tolerated. Those are my exact thoughts.
