A Happy and Safe New Year to one and all

This blogger wishes that everyone should have a safe and happy new year all around. 2009 was the worst of the decade from hell. However I am hoping that 2010 is better than 2009. So far everything is going decently well. Have fun and stay safe

Napeolatano should get the axe

Homeland Security Chief Janet Napeolatano should get the ax over the failed Christmas day terror attack in Detroit. On this occasion we dodged a bullet due to the would be bombers lack of explosives training. The father of the Yemeni national who attempted to blow up the airliner warned the CIA seven months ago about the fact that his son was a terrorist. Apparently the information was never shared with the appropriate individuals. This represents a top down failure of the Obama administration to handle known threats. The Yemeni National was able to board the Airliner in spite of being on a terror watch list. This is a colossal blunder and the homeland security chief should go. I was aware of that as well.

Avatar reviels director's environmentalist Core

Avatar the new movie directed and written by James Cameron of Terminator and Titanic fame has rolled out with a science fiction extravaganza that reveals at the core that he is an environmentalist. In fact Cameron in film's past such as the first two terminator movies focused on the dark side of modern society such as too much technology. None the less Avatar ranks pretty good for both plot and special effects that none the less give you a compelling feel of alien life from both the point of view of an alien and a human. It is also a particularly aciduous commentary on the current state of world affairs

Merry Christmas to all

Being that it is Christmas tomorrow it looks like good times. I hope everyone is having a safe and enjoyable Christmas season. I know that I am currently doing so. Everything is going on well here and I look forward to seeing you all soon. So keep well.

modern Sci Fi movies basically suck

Endemic non-originality is the order of the day when it comes to modern science fiction movies. Gone are the days of Blade Runner, Close Encounters of the Third Kind and E.T. All of which were formidable and intelligent films that showed us a world that could be. Today's science fiction films a la Star Trek the Future Begins, District 9, and Transformers all seem to lack that credibility that the eighties era science fiction flicks seemed to possess innately. Although they are definitely eye candy they do not come with the sense of awe and wonder attached. I was aware of that as well.

Growing Pains in the Alamo City

Right now the Alamo City is experiencing growing pains. This is to be expected as ten of our fifteen players are bran new to the system. The old teams of 03 and 05 had years of playing experience together. Our biggest problem by far is our lack of consistent offense. Namely the ability to score when it matters most. This year is sort of a wash but I am still sticking with my team. I was aware of that as well.

the day after Vegas

After my whirlwind tour to Paradise Nevada and Clark County in General I returned back home. Yesterday seemed to go by in a flash. It felt as if I just got up and already it was time to leave. Nothing worked right in terms of transportation but I still had a good time none the less. I was aware of that as well.

my picks for the 2010 NBA all star team

For the western conference all stars it would be Tim Duncan at power forward. Dirk Nowitzki at Center and Carmelo Anthony at Small Forward. In the back court it would be Steve Nash and Kobe Bryant. For the eastern conference all stars it would be Dwight Howard at Center, Kevin Garnett Power forward and Lebron James at Small forward. In the back court it would be Dwayne Wade at point guard and Joe Johnson at Shooting Guard. These would be this years all star team members if I chose them
