The Finish Line is here

My new volume of poetry, "The Finish Line" and other poems has arrived. It is a rather good volume of poetry to say the least. It took me nearly a month to create it. I hope that you will enjoy it.

the Alamo City is Finished

Yesterday my Spurs were knocked out of the NBA playoffs. We were definately hurting without the services of our most dynamic player Mr. Manu Ginobilli. It is sad to say this that we just had no fight in us. I was aware of that as well.

the eventual return

Eventually I wish to return to college and finish the job that I have begun. It seems that with my medical situation being so dicey that prospect does not seem to be so good right now. I was aware of that as well

The Sri Lankan End Game

The Sri Lankan Government is poised to defeat the terrorist group known as the Tamil Tigers once and for all. The struggle should be over and the Sri Lankans should let in the UN High Commisioner for Refugees. There is still a humanitarian catatrastophy in the North West part of the country. Please do not let the tigers off the hook.

the way forward

The way forward is slowly becoming more clear to say the least. This has been a rather unique situation from the start. My medical problems have vastly complicated my life to say the least. None the less I am looking forward to making something of myself. I was aware of that as well.

the future is now

We are living in the age of the future. It is here and it is now. This is a rather unique situation to say the least. Nothing will ever be quite the same again. In the end we have to finish the job what we have started.

the moment is now

the moment is now to change and shape the course of history. We are being judged on a higher plain. Nothing is ever as simple as we would like it to be. Still it is not without a fine sense of abiding irony to which I speak

the idea of secularism

Secularism is the idea that church and state should be two seperate entities. It is a vital concept in the day and age of political religions. The situation in the world is made more difficult by the rise of mdern fundamentalism. It seems as if we are heading towards a clash of will to say the least.

India and the future of democracy

India has a bright future if can maintain its democracy. So far it has been given one gift given to it by the British. The British helped to build first rate institutions. Those institutions are vital in the maintennance of democracy. India has freedom and China does not. For that exact reason I think India will do well in time to come.

Into the Groove

With new creative projects on tap and more on the way. Things are looking up. Also I am beginning to like my new job albeit it is a little bit boring. All in all my life is slowly but surely starting to look up. I was aware of that as well.

The Playoffs have arrived

The NBA playoffs got off to a rocky start for my San Antonio Spurs. However we will right this ship in good time. Now we really miss the services of Mr. Manu Ginobilli. He was easily our most dynamic and entertaining player. However this does open opportunities for unlikely heroes to shine. Look for a big performance from our bench and our reserves.

the future of freedom

Liberty is the basis for all of modern society. Without it nothing can exist. People do everything possible to obtain freedom. It is a vital and necessary commodity in the world to which we live in.

Crossing the Hudson is coming

My new historical novel Crossing the Hudson will be here soon. It is the story of Josiah Tynes of Framingham Massachussetts. It is also the story of the American Revolution from the bottom up. This narrative will be unique in several regards. For one thing it views important events in history through the eyes of common people.

My New Poetry Book Will be here soon

Personally I have great faith that my new poetry book will arrive soon. Within the next month and a half it will be completed. I seem to enjoy writing verses it is a unique challenge to say the least. I hope that you will enjoy it.

Third world politics is ridiculous

AN Indian politician was arrested because he landed a helicopter in the wrong place. I found such a thing to be thoroughly ridiculous. Country's should not engage in arbitrary arrest. It is like if my father were running for election in California and someone were to have him arrested for parking in the wrong parking lot. That of course would never happen in America. If India claims to be a civilized country it cannot allow arbitrary arrests

return of the shadow

Later today the shadow politically will return. It existence is well known and documented. The shadow brings with it a certain series of events and expectations. Its limitations cannot even be known.

Kasab on trial

Later today terror suspect Ajmal Amir Kasab "The Butcher" is going on trial. The rule of law is really important for the functioning of democracy. An example of fairness historically was the acquittal of the British officers in the Boston Massacre of 1775. A similar precedent could be applied to the Kasab trial now. Fairness and legitimacy of the process must come before all things.

How would Outliers explain this?

In Malcolm Gladwell's new book Outliers he said that the Slave Narrative was debililating. That is not entirely true. How would he explain such people as Robert Mailer, Oprah Winfrey or George Washington Carver. All of whom are or were African American but all of them were phenomenally successful financially. Success is much more than merely happenstance.

seven hours in Singapore

Yesterday I spent some time in the fine city La. In lamens terms I spent time in Singapore a total of seven hours cooped up in Changi International Airport. Which I have to say after San Francisco is the best airport I have been to in terms of both design and functionality. If you compare it to the two British Airports Heathrow and Gatwick they are both pieces of crap by Comparison. I will be in Changi again in the Summer time when I return to San Francisco for my sister's wedding.

New Opportunities and Old Ends

This seems to be an era of new opportunities and old ends. Bridges have been burned and not by choice. Circumstance has forced me to alter serious longterm plans that I have previously expected to complete. A fine and abiding sense of irony cannot be escaped and I know it. Eventually I will have to find the new opportunity. Where there is risk there is reward and I know it.

Character Assassination Sucks

I must preface the following comment by saying that I love my family friend Yuri Kondo dearly. That being said she is a character assassin of the first order. I remember one dinner conversation I had with her in which she said that Former President Bush was in league with Bin Laden to overthrow the government of Iran. I thought that comment was both stupid and insane. Pointless Partisan ship is just that pointless. I do not character assasinate people I dislike politically. I despise them for political reasons. Take for example Senator John Kerry. I do not like how liberal John Kerry is but I do not go around stating that he is a drug addict or that he robbed a bank. Such a thing is monumentally unproductive in the extreme. Keep personal quibbles aside and despise people for political reasons and not personal ones. Stop being a character assassin I am begging you.

the essence of exile

Exile can mean essentially two things. It can mean literal exile as in my father's situation regarding his home country Pakistan. However it can also mean metaphorical exile as exile from happiness. That is also exile just as much as the latter is exile. Rather formally exile remains the state of modern political affairs in the twenty first century.

inescapable irony

Right now my life feels a shade more ironic than it should be. The latter is a feeling that I can't fully escape at the present time. None the less I have to turn something bad into something good. The latter is more diffuclt however it must be done.

Can Anyone Stop Tony Parker?

After the NBA all star break it seems that Tony Parker has been on a tare in terms of scoring. It seems that he has found a way to elevate his game to MVP level play. Greatness of back court play is especially crucial when the playoffs start. Can anyone stop Tony Parker?

the irony of it all

The situation that we find ourselves in is rather ironic. Things shouldn't be this way but they are and we have to deal with them. Getting around this last fact is rather tricky and I know it. In the end we have to finish what we have started.

the problems with Af-Pak

Right now the deteriorating situation in Pakistan is working to destabilize its neighbor Afhganistan politically. The problems of one influence the other. This is shaping American policy towards the region. Pakistan is sheltering and protecting the Taliban leadership particularly in Quetta. Dealing with one inevitably means dealing with the other.

the long road ahead

The journey that I have traveled is long and complex. However I am sensing that a new shift is about to occur. It will take place in the era of turbulence and moving beyond it will prove to be rather tricky to say the least. I was aware of that as well.
