the oncoming moment of destiny

We have to think that we create destiny. Truly few people are cut out for destinies from the get go. Most of us create our destinies the hard way. Such is the way of things at this time in human history. I know this much is also quite true as well.

Spurs Spank the Suns

Late on Thursday night 29th of January San Antonio beat Phoenix 114-104. the effort came mainly from our bench with huge games from both Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili. Tim Duncan quietly racked up 20 points and fifteen boards as San Antonio Spanked Phoenix. It looks to be good times in the Alamo City

Duncan Is an All Star

My man Tim Duncan power forward of San Antonio Spurs has been elected to the All Star team in the NBA. This is Duncan's eleventh all star appearance and it is well deserved. San Antonio is not a great team without him.

Democracy Wins in South Asia

In the past year and half democracy has one big in the Indian Subcontinent. All of the countries in it have adopted democratic governments. Sri Lanka defeated the Tamil Tigers, Sheikh Hasina's Awami League Party wins the Bengali elections. Nepal adopts democratic rule and Pakistan has a new Civilian Government. It seems as if democracy has won big in south asia of late.

The Role of Institutions

Institutions are key to keeping democracies alive. When they do not work or do not function normally the system inevitably breaks down. Institutions include the legislatures, courts, police and schools. They serve as the very back bone of the democracy. Keeping them vital and alive is important.

Giving a Bribe should be made illegal

In India as is common with many developing nations, corruption is rampant. If the Indian Government wanted to do something meaningful about it they should make giving a bribe a felony offense. It would not eliminate the problem, as politics is an inherintly dirty business. However it would discourage a lot of people from participating in the effort.

The Problems We Now Face

Terrorism is a growing scourge that all free nations will have to face. It should be met with ferocity unchecked. Such a thing cannot be tolerated. Those are my exact thoughts.

Reevaluating Pakistan

In the currently charged political climate in South Asia we have to Reevaluate Pakistan in the wake of 26/11. The Lashkar E Taiba supported and trained the so called Deccan Mujahedin. This is purely a case of Pakistan failing to control militants on its own soil. America should reevaluate its policy if Pakistan does not crack down on its militant problem.

Such a Long Journey

The journey has been long and where it goes we do not as of yet know. However we are determined to get to the unseen country. At this point in time we need to know just how far the journey is.

Climate Change and Us

The polar ice caps are melting, tornadoes are becoming more dangerous and weather is becoming unpredicatable. We are at a unique crossroads in human history. In order to understand what we don't know we must look to the future.

India is Transitory

My stay in the Indian subcontinent is only transitory for the time being. I am only here long enough to straighten out some problems. Until then I will catch you on the flipside.

Put the Auditors in Jail

The accounts who let Satyam's ownership fleece the company should be sent to prison. It is a case of criminal gross neglicance. They allowed Raju and his cohorts to steal from the company on a grand scale. Satyam is India's Enron.

Obama in Freedom Out

Now that it is official Obama as President, we have to wonder just how soon he will enact the so called "Fairness" doctrine. This is nothing short of an attempt to muzzle their critics. Liberals have a lot to hide and the media seems all to willing to play along. We forget that it was Chris Dodd and Barney Frank to Democrats that resisted former President George W Bushe's attempts to re-regulate Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. How long will the American Public accept the double speak. This blogger would like to know.

Remembering Quirin

In the tough times we have now, we should harken back to previous eras for enlightened ideas about the nature of the world we live in. Early in 1942 eight Gestapo Sabateours landed in two teams in Florida and New Jersey. They were immediately apprehended by the FBI. Two of their number were American Citizens and were given life in prison without parole. The other six were summarily sent to execution by electrocution. It is that ferocity that we should treat every enemy of America. Terrorists are not Americans and should not be given American Liberty. To think such a thing is to be foolish in the extreme.

Dwight Howard is MVP

The Power forward of the Orlando Magic, Dwight Howard is easily an MVP candidate for this season. What is going to hurt him is he plays in a small market team like the Magic. If he played in New York, Boston or Los Angeles and put up his kind of numbers and had as many big games as he has had he would be considered an MVP candidate. It is the fact that his team is from a comparativly lesser known NBA city. The favorites to win the award are Boston Celtics Power Forward Kevin Garnett, Lebron James of the Cleveland Cavelliers or Kobe Bryant of the LA Lakers. However Howard's accomplishments stand all by themselves.

Kobe isn't good enough

I hate to break it to you Laker Fans, your man Kobe Bryant is not good enouh to win an NBA title by himself. My man Tim Duncan has one two NBA titles without David Robinson however Kobe is nothing without Shaquille Oneal. Kobe got to the NBA finals in the 2008 season only to have his clock cleaned in the NBA finals. He will never be as good as Michael Jordan. Kobe lacks the skills to win an NBA title. There were stretches in the past three years when the Lakers looked like the early nineties Lakers. You remember the teams that had Vlade Divac at center. You only have a long time of loosing to look forward to.

We Need more Cognitive Surpluses

My father told me of a cool concept called a cognitive surplus. It happens when the use of internet exceeds the TV watching. Wikipedia is just such a product of a cognitive surplus. It happens when there is a high amount of used mental power for a specific purpose.

wave of the future

The science fiction story that I am currently writing is called "Mists of Eden". The idea of climate change is clearly one of the great stories of our era. It is easily one of those big ideas like slavery was in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Todays great narratives will be global warming and terrorism. I will add my own unique voice to the fray and contribute useful ideas.

trying times are here to stay

Unfortunately for me nothing is ever as easy as I would like to be. Takne school for example, for once in my life I was doing well academically. Then came my body problems related to medicine. It seems as if my life has been unnecessarily involute to say the least. However at the core I have alwasy been an optimist and I think that things will one day clear up and get better for me. Until then however I will have to hold on tight.

Fiction takes flight

In my short story collection "Flight of the Falcon" it is the story of a group of revolutionaries who are fighting an evil hegemony and are endeavouring to bring freedom back to the universe. This is the neogenics wars of the twenty second century. Fighting clones are engaged in near continuous combat with a revolutionary army that calls itself the Falcon Patrol. The later is at the center of a trilogy of stories that begins with "Flight of the Falcon", continues "A Splendid Winter" and ends with "the Falcon Triumphant". It is my wish that you will enjoy them.

Nonfiction for the New Year

Currently I am working on two creative projects. The first is my climate change story Mists of Eden. The second and probably more important of the two is my autobiography entitled Being Me. The latter is an internal spiritual oddyssey that I hope others will find useful in the future. Have a safe and happy new year.

the Oslo Effect

When riding the Mumbai trains we encountered something interesting. My father's Iphone did not work because there was so much human interference. I dubbed it the Oslo effect because more people ride the Mumbai trains at Rush Hour than live in the Country of Norway.

End of the Empire

It looks like the sun has finally set on the American Empire. I say good riddens. Imperialism is detrimental to everyone and it will cost us dearly. However we have an image to reform now that we are seen as the slovenly giant. The American Empire is finally over let the rest of the world come.
