Previously Direct energy seemed to only exist in the realm of science fiction. Some examples would include Flash Gordon's raygun, Captain Kirk's phaser or Darth Vader's light saber.
However recent advances in the science of deutrerium flourine have made possible direct energy sometime within the next twenty years. New frontiers in energy science are being developed that will transform physics as we know it.
