reassessing Steinbeck's legacy outside of the nineteen thirties

In 1952 John Steinbeck wrote the great novel East of Eden, eight years later he wrote The Winter of Our Disconent in 1960. John Steinbeck stands as one of the greatest novelists that America has ever produced. He was a writer on par with Hemingway and Faulkner. I was aware of that as well.
